Former firefighter charged with embezzlement

Criminal charges have been filed against a firefighter accused of embezzling funds from a rural fire district headquartered in Dolan Springs. Phillip Picard, 31, is initially charged with ten counts of forgery and single counts of fraud and theft in an April 8 complaint filed in Kingman Justice Court. A Mohave County Sheriff’s office investigation was initiated late last June after Lake Mohave Ranchos Fire District (LMRFD) governing board and staff members conducted their own probe. Rising temperatures and longer days mean spring is here and newborn wildlife are likely exploring the world around them. The Arizona Game and Fish Department understands the public’s desire to help seemingly “abandoned” animals such as baby birds and bunnies; however, the department reminds people to refuse the urge to “rescue” wildlife and to please leave baby wildlife alone. The 35th Annual Kingsmen Andy Devine Pro Rodeo will be held at the Mohave County Fairgrounds, 2600 Fairgrounds Blvd., in Kingman June 1 and 2. Smith gets 6.5 years for attacking woman in her home

A Fort Mohave man is going to the Arizona Department of Corrections for the sexually motivated attack upon a woman more than a year ago. Mohave County Superior Court Judge Derek Carlisle ordered a 6.5-year prison term Wednesday for Kenneth Cyril Smith, 52. Mohave County sheriff’s deputies responded in April 2018 to a 911 hang-up call originated from a home in the 1700 block of Hammer Lane in Fort Mohave. Dear Editor,

 Regardless our life upbringing we are free to choose who we are and who we want to become. 
I was raised in Italy in a family where unfortunately domestic violence was a multigenerational factor. I have witnessed both my grandfathers, using physical violence against my grandmothers, but the most disturbing reality I had to face as a child was my father, repeating the same pattern of violence on my mother.
