The following local residents have earned a degree from Western Governors University (WGU). The online, nonprofit university held its 70th (Orlando, Florida); 71st (Cincinnati, Ohio); and 72nd (Anaheim, California) commencement ceremonies this year to celebrate the graduation of more than 22,000 students from across the country. Kerry Coleman of Kingman has earned her Bachelor of Arts, Educational Studies and Michael Gaffney of Kingman has earned his Master of Science, Information Technology Management.

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Arizona State University-Lake Havasu campus professor Dr. Cristen Mann was recently recognized as the 2019 the First Things First La Paz/Mohave Region Champion for Young Children.  The Champion for Young Children award is given by the FTF La Paz/Mohave Regional Council each year to a local champion who actively volunteers their time to raise public awareness of the importance of early childhood development and health. The recent earthquakes that hit in Southern California remind people to be prepared. Emergencies can strike at any time, causing power outages, flooding, fire or evacuations which would rapidly overload first responders. The Bullhead City Fire Department would like to remind citizens to do their part, be prepared, and have an emergency preparedness plan. Applications will be accepted by mail beginning July 22  Arizona hunters will have an opportunity to receive a hunt permit-tag for select 2019 deer, fall turkey and fall youth-only javelina hunts.  There are 968 leftover hunt permit-tags available for general deer hunts, with most of those hunts being for antlered white-tailed deer only in Game Management Units (GMUs) in the southeastern portion of the state.
