Firefighters extinguished multiple brush fires near Kingman

KINGMAN – Personnel from multiple agencies battled a number of brush fires Monday morning. The Kingman Fire Department (KFD) reports crews responded at 8:27 a.m. to the brush blazes in the area of Historic Route 66 and Interstate 40.

“Five fires covering approximately 15 acres were extinguished, causing a temporary closure of Route 66 for about two hours,” a news release said.

USDA Rural Development to host Home Grant and Loan Application Day for Kingman area homeowners

KINGMAN  – On Wednesday, June 26, U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development Single Family Housing staff will be available in Mohave County Community Service’s Mezzanine Room from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to inform and process homeowner applications for 504 Home Repair Loans and Grants. In partnership with the Western Arizona Council of Governments (WACOG). Homeowners are invited to speak with a specialist about available programs and begin applications. Representatives from the Social Security Administration (SSA) will also be present to assist with services. Bilingual services available.
