Popular Lake Mead National Recreation Area trails reopening this Fall

Trails set to reopen next month after the annual summer closure to mitigate heat and safety risks

Lake Mead National Recreation Area is announcing the planned reopening of several popular trails on Tuesday, October 1, following the summer seasonal trail closure. The annual closure, in effect from May 15 through September 30, is implemented to protect visitors from extreme summer heat.

The trails reopening include:

* Goldstrike Canyon

* White Rock Canyon and White Rock Canyon Trail

* Arizona Hot Springs and Arizona Hot Springs Trail

* Liberty Arch Trail

* Lone Palm Trail

* Sugar Loaf Trail

* Surrounding areas of Lone Palm and Sugar Loaf

JAVC to host holiday fundraiser

KINGMAN – On Saturday, November 2, a Holiday Craft Fair Fundraiser will be held for the Jerry Ambrose Veteran Council (JAVC). It will be held at the Kingman Elks Lodge #468 at 900 Gates Avenue in Kingman from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Vendors will include Tupperware, jewelry, wood working items, candles, home decorations and wreaths, Holidays lighted trees, baked goods, greeting cards, painted rocks, handmade soaps/lotions, tie-dyed shirts, kitchen accessories, doTerra essential oils, all Holidays decor, and much more. Please come support the vendors and veterans.

BLM and Dolan Springs Trails Committee partner to host community cleanup event Sept. 28

DOLAN SPRINGS – The Bureau of Land Management’s Kingman Field Office will be partnering with the Dolan Springs Trails Committee to complete a community cleanup in the Mt. Tipton area on Saturday, September 28 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Volunteers should be prepared to drive on primitive roads to access worksites or be shuttled by BLM staff to project work locations.  

Volunteers should wear closed-toe shoes, dress in layers, bring a wide-brimmed hat, sunblock, a snack, and plenty of water. BLM will provide tools, gloves, and extra water.
