Hairston completes International Professional Designation Process Battalion Chief

Kingman Fire Department Battalion Chief Adrian Hairston has successfully completed the process that awards the professional designation of “Chief Fire Officer” (CFO). The Commission on Professional Credentialing (CPC) met on February 5, to confer the designation. Battalion Chief Hairston becomes one of only 1,344 CFOs worldwide. The designation program is a voluntary program designed to recognize individuals who demonstrate their excellence in seven measured components including experience, education, professional development, professional contributions, association membership, community involvement and technical competence. Restoration planned for WWI monument at Courthouse

A group of Marine Corps veterans is leading an effort to restore the WWI monument located at the Mohave County courthouse in downtown Kingman. In May 1928, the citizens of Mohave County dedicated a monument to recognize the sacrifices made by military service members and to honor the memory of those who participated in the “War to end all wars”. Over the years, the monument and courthouse were a source of great pride in the community and a focus point of historic downtown Kingman. The unique monument was designed by E. M. The gift of a ‘do over’

My wife and I were fortunate enough to live in the house listed on the Historic Registry of places in Kingman. Built in 1910, the house was once the home of the J. Duffy Brown family. The first and former residents of Canada came to Kingman to open a mine. The home, which has always been beautiful, received a badly needed coat of paint during the time that we lived there. Closures at Lake Havasu Avenue

Lake Havasu Avenue, between the intersections of McCulloch Boulevard and Swanson Avenue, is partially closed on Monday, March 4 at 10:00 p.m. through Tuesday, March 5 at 4:00 p.m. On Wednesday, March 6 and Thursday, March 7 between 6:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., this intersection is closed to all thru traffic.
