Asphalt Sealing Program Scheduled to Begin

LAKE HAVASU CITY – In an effort to preserve our roadways, Lake Havasu City is sealing various streets in the downtown/uptown area as well as the recently completed Island Walking Path and parking lots. Work is scheduled to begin Sunday, June 2, 2024, and will continue for approximately one week.

LOCATIONS

  1. McCulloch Blvd.- Acoma Blvd. to Smoketree Ave.
  2. Scott Dr.
  3. Mulberry Ave.- McCulloch Blvd. to Swanson Ave.
  4. Swanson Ave.- Acoma Blvd. to Smoketree Ave.

High density mineral bond (HA5) will be used to cover approximately 67,000 square yards of asphalt, prolonging its usable service life.  Per application, (HA5) will generally last longer than other seals previously used by Lake Havasu City. This cuts down on the number of times the public and businesses are interrupted but takes a longer curing/drying time.  The Lake Havasu City Maintenance Services Division is asking for patience and cooperation for everyone involved during the sealing process.

Motorists traveling around these areas will experience ROAD CLOSURES and DELAYS due to the sealing activities.  Traffic control signs, cones, arrows, flaggers, and other devices will be used to direct traffic.  It is recommended that motorists use alternate routes whenever possible.  Businesses will be open with rear, or side street parking being used for access.  Do not walk or drive through material until traffic control is removed.

Residents and businesses located along streets being sealed will receive notice approximately five days in advance of the construction and again 24 hours prior to the work starting. The City asks that the public refrain from parking on the streets, remove all vehicles during the time that they are scheduled to be sealed, and avoid releasing water into the street during this time.

As always, the public is requested to use caution and obey all traffic signs when traveling through construction zones. For more information, please contact Lake Havasu City at (928) 855-3377.
