Area TV service outages for upgrade

MOHAVE COUNTY – The long-awaited television services upgrade for the Lake Havasu and Desert Hills areas will begin as early as February 13, 2025, and may extend during the weekend of the 15th and 16th.

The TV District sub-contractor, Wecom has announced that Mohave County television customers in those two areas will experience loss of services temporarily before improved area coverage is established.  The reason for the TV stations going off the air is to remove the old transmitters and replace them with new and more powerful ones which will provide extended area coverage.

Mohave County’s Erin Shrecengost, Administrative Services Director who oversees the TV district says, “we welcome this valuable and needed upgrade.  While it will be problematic for some over a few days, the significant improvements by Wecom will make it more than worthwhile for the long term.”

It is expected the new TV service transmission will also provide more reliable service for those who have reception challenges due to terrain and weak signal locations.  When the outages begin, construction crews will work without delay and as rapidly as possible once the service is temporarily deactivated.   During this time, it is recommended that customers DO NOT attempt to rescan any TV channels until services are fully restored.

If there are further questions, customers may contact Wecom during business hours (928-753-3829.)   If calls are made after business hours, messages may be left with a live representative and a customer service specialist will return the call during regular hours.   This upgrade only involves Over the Air Television and does not involve Internet services.

The following TV stations will be involved in this transition and during construction may go on and off the air during the construction period of February 13th through up to the 16th 2025 at any time. Wecom apologizes for the inconvenience that this causes.
