Another Operation Typewriter drug suspect going to prison

KINGMAN – Another suspect rounded up and charged in the “Operation Mohave Typewriter” drug and firearms trafficking investigation is going to the Arizona Department of Corrections. Several of the 15 defendants arrested in August have recently entered plea agreements that will send them to prison.
Joan Lapointe, 63, Kingman, did so on November 17. The plea deal convicts Lapointe, 63, of a sale of dangerous drugs charge.

Deputy Mohave County Attorney Phillip Delgado told Superior Court judge Lee Jantzen that Lapointe sold about two ounces of methamphetamine to an undercover Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms agent in the 3800 block of East Lum Avenue in Kingman on December 19, 2024.

Terms of the deal require imposition of a mandatory 11-year prison term at a December 16 sentencing hearing.

Authorities reported that the multi-agency 9-month investigation resulted in the seizure of 32.5-pounds of methamphetamine, fentanyl power, grenades and firearms, in addition to the arrests of subject from a number of county communities.
