Poem submitted by Whitney Etheridge
I’ll pick you some flowers or we could go take a shower. Let’s be spontaneous together. I wanna love you forever. I hate when I’m not feeling right. I sit home alone at night and cry. Please don’t leave me! You are the only one that’s in between me. Baby, stay for a while. I may not be the one you want but I can still make you smile. When you take off, my mind wanders to different thoughts. Instead of forward, I’m pushing pause. Don’t you want to be with me? Lately, times have been getting crazy. Deep down I know you are still my baby. Don’t call it quits. Please maybe. Let’s start over, not when we’re old, right now it’s bolder. You are giving me the cold shoulder. I tell her I love her. I know I told her. Let’s not be unhappy. Let’s get dressed up with makeup on looking classy. We’ll hit the cinemas. Smoke a cigarette. Drink a beer. Have a cinnabun. I kiss you on the forehead and put that strand of hair behind your ear. Baby, you are so beautiful. I’m sorry sometimes it’s not clear. I want you to be with me always even when I’m bitter and I’ve lost my say. Say let’s stop. Are you down to stop time? No hours, no minutes, just spitting lines and rapping with my honey bunny. There’s nothing better, not even money. I wish we could. So, let’s say we did. We forgot about the hemmed ups and how we backslid. You and me will rise up to infinity. You and me are more powerful than our worst enemies. So, do we have a conclusion? Being angry is just an illusion. Let’s make love and a new type of music. You get to touching and I’ll start the Netflix. It may be awkward at first but can we try it? Please, that’s my sales pitch. I want you. Buy it. Perfectly imperfect, I know our souls deserve this. If I had one wish, I’d wish for you to be you. Let’s kiss. I wrote the future in a poem before. I’ll stop there before I say anymore. You take center stage. What do you want to do? Let’s dance on the roof in the moonlight. I put my arm around you. Feel the desire in my insides. I’d want you to say this to me. Although, you do and your approach is more witty. I mean Whitney. Yes, I’m whimzekal to a tee. For trouble not stable and I’m faded though. Slow down and drool in the microphone. Okay, I’m done. Now let’s really get tail spun.
