LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. – A Lake Havasu City man will go to the Arizona Department of Corrections under terms of a plea agreement that resolves his child pornography case. The deal entered on behalf of Donald Burda, 65, was accepted when entered before Mohave County Superior Court Judge Megan McCoy during an Oct. 5 hearing.
Deputy county attorney Leah Nelson said authorities found child sexual abuse materials within the contents of electronic devices seized during a Nov. 2025 search of Burda’s residence in the 400 block of Jones Drive.
The agreement reached by attorneys and the defendant convicts Burda of one sexual exploitation of a minor charge and three counts reduced to attempted sexual exploitation of a minor. Six sexual exploitation of a minor charges are dismissed.
Nelson described sexual activity involving young children and adults on two images and two videos associated with the guilty pleas.
“I must be honest, I don’t recognize those,’’ Burda said. “I’m not denying the charges.”
With some prodding by the court, Burda admitted the state probably has the content described to use at trial to gain convictions.
Judge McCoy has broad discretion, but must impose a 10- to 24-year prison term during a Nov. 30 sentencing hearing. Burda must serve lifetime probation following prison.
