KINGMAN, Ariz. – A Lake Havasu City man challenged state-asserted facts at his Oct. 5 change of plea hearing in Kingman. Police and a prosecutor said that Carlos Placito-Becerra entered a home without permission and aimed an airsoft rifle at two people.
“No, I did not enter with a rifle or anything,” Placito-Becerra told Judge Ryan Esplin. He said the encounter took place outside the residence in the 2600 block of North McCulloch Blvd.
When questioned by the court, Placito-Becerra said he visited the property to pick up his mother who had been drinking, and that he tried to collect a debt from another man who was there.
Deputy Mohave County Attorney Phillip Delgado said reckless handling of the weapon that looks much like an AR-15 when confronting the victims meets the elements required for disorderly conduct involving a weapon convictions, whether he pointed it at the victims or not.
Terms of the plea deal require imposition of a two-year prison term at a Nov. 3 sentencing.
