Local gymnasts head to Junior Olympics next month

KINGMAN — Fifteen athletes from Kingman’s All Starz Gymnastics Team are headed to the AAU Junior Olympic Games in Des Moines, Iowa, August 4–7, after earning top‑six finishes at the AAU National Championships earlier this summer. The Junior Olympics berth marks the largest national‑level contingent All Starz has ever sent, capping a standout season for the growing program.

Fresh off a standout AAU Nationals performance that included 31 gold medals and two perfect 10.0 scores, All Starz Gymnastics’ Junior Olympic qualifiers are bound for Des Moines, August 4–7. Front row: Cora Conte, Xilyn Wolsey, Evie Kennelly, Hazelle Caspe, Paisley Allen, Trinity McNeil, Rylee Berg. Back row: Isabel Terrazas, Jade Saari, Caylee Ramsey, Alauna Ballard, Axzyn Wolsey, Kylie Rail, Leeah Campbell.

Their qualification comes on the heels of a powerhouse performance at AAU Nationals, held June 18–21 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Twenty‑one All Starz gymnasts joined more than 3,500 competitors from across the country and returned home with an impressive 31 gold, 21 silver, and 6 bronze medals.

Two athletes achieved one of the rarest feats in youth gymnastics — perfect 10.0 scores. • Axzyn Wolsey earned her 10.0 on vault. • Isabel Terrazas posted a 10.0 on bars.

Every All Starz gymnast placed in the top six or better in at least one event, a collective showing that propelled 15 athletes into the Junior Olympic field. Qualification required finishing among the top six scores in each session, regardless of age division.

The All Starz qualifiers will join athletes from swimming, track and field, wrestling, and other sports at the multi‑day national event in Des Moines.
