Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor,

As we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, I’m reminded of just how extraordinary this nation is — and how determined we must be to protect it. The American experiment is still alive, still fighting, still striving toward a more perfect union. Yet at the same time, I see people who feel compelled to write opinion pieces filled with hostility and resentment, spreading their bitterness through newspapers as though anger were a virtue. They twist reality, invent offenses, and cling to pessimism because they refuse to acknowledge the progress happening right in front of them.

We are fortunate to have President Trump leading the fight to preserve this nation’s greatness. The hostility coming from certain commentators only proves how far some will go to distort reality. They invent accusations, misrepresent his words, and rely on narratives pushed by liberal media claiming billionaires are draining the country — a manufactured lie designed to paint Trump as beholden to the wealthy when he has consistently stood with the working class.

Polls show many Democrats have lost pride in America, letting resentment toward the President override their patriotism. They act as though Trump has damaged the nation. The truth is the opposite: Trump has reignited patriotism. Military recruitment has surged. Investment in manufacturing, technology, and new businesses has reached record highs. Jobs that previous administrations allowed to drift overseas are returning. For years, it felt as though past leaders were simply managing America’s decline, surrendering the American Dream to creeping communist ideology. Trump reversed that trajectory, much to the outrage of American Marxists and the DSA, Democratic Socialists of America, who openly oppose the values that built this country.

Capitalism — our engine of prosperity — has driven innovation in medicine, technology, artificial intelligence, and countless other fields. It has raised the standard of living for people across the globe. It has saved lives. And President Trump understands how to unleash its full potential. His tax cuts rewarded hard work and encouraged entrepreneurship. Working‑class families benefited from tax relief, including no tax on tips and no tax on overtime. Those who refuse to work or expect everything to be handed to them do not see these gains and instead gravitate toward socialist and communist ideas that blame the wealthy for every hardship. In reality, the wealth‑creating class fuels the prosperity that lifts everyone.

While Democrats were obsessed with attacking Trump, they allowed socialists within the DSA to gain ground and win elections by promising government freebies and demonizing success. History shows where socialism leads: shortages, unemployment, bread lines, and misery. Their plan to tax the wealthy until the system collapses is a recipe for disaster. Capitalism may not distribute wealth evenly, but it has created more prosperity than any system in human history. Trickle‑down economics works — supporting innovators and job creators lifts the entire nation. Bottom‑up socialist models fail because they rely on redistribution rather than creation. The bottom does not innovate; it does not generate jobs. Redistribution cannot replace productivity.

President Trump’s administration has also worked to streamline the federal government by cutting waste, fraud, and abuse. Conservatives believe in a smaller federal government with more authority returned to the states. Socialism demands the opposite: a massive centralized government controlled by a small elite who believe they know better than everyone else. That is not freedom. That is control.

Freedom must be fought for in every generation. If we fail to defend it, we will lose it. I choose to fight for it — so that another 250 years of American liberty can be secured.
