LAKE HAVASU CITY – An aviation incident occurred at the Lake Havasu City airport. A motorist driving on Highway 95 reported a possible aircraft crash at the south end of the airport runway at about 3:12 p.m. on Thursday, May 14.
“The first arriving fire company reported a small, single-engine aircraft off the runway, in the dirt,” a city-issued news release said. “The aircraft was attempting to take off when it had to return and perform an emergency landing.”
Three engine companies, three ambulances, and a Battalion Chief responded to the aircraft emergency.
“The occupants were safely removed from the downed aircraft while ensuring fire protection,” the press release said.
“All occupants were transported to the hospital for evaluation, and the downed aircraft was made safe for removal.”
Authorities said they were not at liberty to disclose where the pilot and two passengers reside.
There were no reported injuries to firefighters and crews safely removed the aircraft from the runway area. The cause of the aircraft emergency is under investigation by the FAA and NTSB.
