Abuse of two-year-old will bring no more than 120 days jail time

BULLHEAD CITY – A Bullhead City man who harmed his girlfriend’s toddler has entered a plea agreement convicting him of child abuse. Ora Carson, 25, was arrested on Feb. 23 after the mother informed police he had been assaulting her two-year-old daughter.

Bullhead City Police Department Public Information Officer Emily Fromelt said the woman provided cell phone video that recorded the abuse. Fromelt said the mother was suspicious regarding her daughter’s injuries, and that she had set up the cell phone to record when she was not in the room.

Deputy county attorney Rod Albright said the video shows the victim struck repeatedly about the head by the defendant’s open and closed hand. He told Mohave County Superior Court Judge Megan McCoy that the child suffered bruising and scratches to her forehead and neck area.

The child was transported to a local hospital and flown to Las Vegas for further care at another facility.

Terms of the plea deal require Judge McCoy to place Carson on probation. He can also get up to 120 days jail at his June 2 sentencing.
