Bullhead City man avoids prison time in bayonet threat case

BULLHEAD CITY — An elderly man who threatened family members with a weapon with a 9” blade in Bullhead City last fall entered a plea agreement designed to spare him from serving prison time.

David Delgadillo, 71, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault during a Feb. 19 hearing before Mohave County Superior Court judge Lee Jantzen in Kingman.

Police Department public information officer Emily Fromelt said a quarrel involving use of the defendant’s vehicle occurred in an apartment at 3381McCormick Boulevard on Sept. 3, 2025. She said Delgadillo used foul language as he called his step daughter names in front of his 15 and 18-year-old step grandsons.

“One of the boys confronted him and he then reportedly pulled out a `bayonet’ from under his bed and held it toward the victims,” Fromelt said. “He also made statements about hurting them.”

Fromelt said no one was injured as Delgadillo put the weapon back under the bed after an air mattress was hurled at him in self defense.

Terms of the deal require judge Jantzen to place Delgadillo on probation for five years. Up to a year in jail can also be ordered at a Feb. 19 sentencing hearing.
