BHCD begins search for attempted homicide suspect Gilberto Mendez, 23

BULLHEAD CITY — Bullhead City Police are looking for Gilberto “Gil” Mendez III, 23, who was involved in a shooting early Thursday morning. A temporary felony warrant for Attempted Homicide has been issued for his arrest.

On Thursday, February 12 at about 5:20 a.m., officers responded to a report of a weapons offense in the 700 block of River Gardens Drive. On scene, police immediately rendered medical aid to a 33-year-old male victim who had been shot in both legs and suffered a graze wound to his arm.

It was reported that two armed males with masks entered the home. An altercation occurred over previous interactions, and shots were fired. The suspects fled prior to police arrival.

The victim was transported to Western Arizona Regional Medical Center (WARMC) and is reportedly in stable condition. Other people were inside the home during the shooting, including four children. No one else was injured.

Through further investigation, detectives identified the shooter as Gilberto Mendez III, 23. Mendez is known to reside in both Bullhead City, AZ and Laughlin, NV. He is believed to be responsible for other recent shootings in the Bullhead City area.

If you have information regarding his whereabouts, call 9-1-1 immediately or contact the Bullhead City Police Department at (928) 763-1999. Do not approach. He is considered armed and dangerous.
This is an active investigation.
