Midterms may be at stake

Dear Editor,

By flooding US cities with aggressive forces, our President may create enough disruption to cancel the midterm elections under emergency authorization. He has not only said he might do this but has recently requested an additional $500 billion for these forces.

According to former Labor Secretary Robert Reich, we are in a complete dictatorship. Deceit, bribery and coercion have removed all restraints on Presidential power.

This may also be attributed to Citizens United, however. With the 2010 Supreme Court ruling, entities can anonymously donate any amount to political campaigns.

Thus In order to compete with Republicans who openly legislate for big business, Democrats rely on Citizens United and do whatever their donors decree. Unfortunately these donors usually ignore the poor, public safety, and the environment.

In 2016, even though her liberal competitor, Bernie Sanders, won the Democratic Primary in every WV county, Hilary was nominated WV Democratic presidential candidate.

Polling showed Bernie was the only candidate who could beat Trump, but donors disliked him. So ongoing disgust with establishment politicians gave us Trump.

Citizens, nevertheless, have real power. If you are concerned for democracy, call Congress (Switchboard: 202 224 3121), inform friends, join rallies, and UNITE! This is an emergency.
