Dear Editor,
For those of you whom I have not had the pleasure of meeting personally yet, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Mark Berry, but my many friends, associates, and neighbors all know me as “Doc,” and I am running for Mayor of Kingman in our upcoming election.
I retired from my medical career in 2016, but am still on the Board of Directors of Mission City Community Network, a medical services organization consisting of 27 federally licensed medical clinics with an annual budget of approximately $256 million. The annual budget of Kingman is approximately $75 million, so I am confident that my qualifications and track record of common-sense business strategies speak for themselves.
I have had family here in Kingman since 1962, and I moved here permanently after retiring in 2016. I love this town, and I love the people. Let me be clear, I am no politician, but I was basically “volun-told” to run for office. When I informed the group that I was not a politician, I was told that was exactly why I should run.
Fast-forward … my campaign slogan is Make Arizona Great For Our Residents, City, & Economy (MAG FORCE), and I will be posting my positions and my platform on issues important to all of us who live in and around Kingman. I realize that only people who live inside the city limits can vote for mayor in the election, but the people who live outside the city limits are our neighbors and friends too, and the policies the city council and mayor implement affect all of us.
The biggest dissatisfaction with our local leaders that I have heard over the past 10 years, is centered around “uncontrolled growth” and that “the people’s voice” (and our votes) are circumvented and trampled upon as if they are insignificant. Well, if you want the same type of leadership that we have had for the past five to10 years, then do nothing, and you will get exactly that. But if you want something better for ourselves, our local businesses, our families, and our friends, then at least listen to my position and the solutions I propose to benefit us all. If you disagree with me, that’s fine vote for someone else. That’s one of the great things about this country: you can vote for who you want. But if what I have to say makes common sense, then I would ask you to listen.
As a Marine Corps veteran, what I have to say to my brother and sister veterans will have special meaning: “I guarantee that I’ve got your six. Do you have mine?” As just one example of giving the power back to the people of Kingman, I submit to you the following article as food for thought:
“Do you have my six?”
Kingman … listen to me. For too long, this city has been run by people who think your voice is optional. They think your vote is a suggestion. They think your will can be ignored. But let me tell you something tonight — that era ends the moment you elect Mark “Doc” Berry as your next mayor. Because when you support MAG FORCE — when you vote for me — you are forming a bond of mutual responsibility and moral courage. You’re not just voting for a candidate; you’re joining a mission. A mission to take back Kingman for the residents who built it and the families who live here and depend on it.
The core problem. You already know what’s been happening:
• Voter-approved measures ignored.
• Community sentiment dismissed.
• Responsible growth abandoned.
• Infrastructure stretched past its limits.
• And appointed bodies — especially planning and zoning — acting like they’re untouchable. They behave like they can say to the people, “Go pound sand — you can’t fire us.” Well, I have news for them: Yes. We. Can!
The Accountability Chain
Let me lay it out simple: Voters elect: Council members: Appoint commissioners. You, the people of Kingman, elect the council to represent your wishes. The council appoints the commissioners. And when commissioners fail you … the council can replace them. And when council members refuse to replace bad commissioners … you can replace the council members. That’s the Constitution, the law. That’s the process. That’s the “teeth” in your vote.
We don’t threaten anybody. We don’t intimidate anybody. We use the power the Constitution gives us: Recall. Remove. Replace. And if it comes down to brass tacks, I will lead that charge into battle for you. I will spearhead the petition. I will call it out publicly, loudly, and fearlessly. But I cannot — and I will not — go into that battle alone and with no ammunition.
The Military Promise
Now, I want to ask you something important — especially of our veterans. You understand something most politicians never will: “Freedom isn’t free.” And the price? It’s not blood today. It’s not boots on foreign soil. The price in 2026 is involvement. Just involvement, that’s all. The courage to show up. To vote. To sign a petition when leaders betray you. To stand behind a mayor who stands in front of you. Not in backroom sessions making “sweetheart deals” without your input. So I’m asking you — veterans, patriots, families, neighbors: Do you have my six? Because I guarantee you this — I will have yours.
When we challenge the political establishment. When we force accountability on the people who have ignored you. When we stand up for infrastructure, water security, neighborhood voice, and responsible growth I need you covering my six. I need you to turn out. I need you to vote. I need you to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with me. Don’t send me into battle without ammunition. Your vote is the ammo. Your signature ‘is’ the hand grenades, the power. Your involvement ‘is’ the air support … This … is price of freedom today.
Our battle cry
And if the day comes where the city council refuses to obey the will of the people. If they protect commissioners who betray you, or if they betray you themselves. If they sneer at your concerns and rubber-stamp irresponsible growth. Then our battle cry will shake this city: Recall! Remove! Replace! And together — as a team — we will win.
The promise
Ladies and gentlemen, Kingman’s voters are no longer silent. You are awake — not woke. And yes … we don’t just bark … we bite! So, help me to help you. Stand with my campaign MAG FORCE. Stand with moral courage. Stand with the bond of responsibility that only real patriots understand. Stand with me, and if you never served in the military but wanted to, now is your opportunity to stand with the veteran community of Kingman and show your true colors. Vote for Mark “Doc” Berry for mayor. And together let’s make Arizona great — for our residents, city, and economy. Kingman, I’m ready. I’ve got your six! Do you have mine?” Then go to the link below and sign my petition. Support Doc Berry for mayor. Sign the petition today. go.azsos.gov/5kqt
Mark Berry
All I can comment on Mr. Berry’s letter is, “Let’s make certain we vet the candidates.” A complete and thorough background is a must in this day and age.
