Pedestrian, hit twice, killed in traffic crash

KINGMAN – The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) reports an arrest in a deadly vehicle pedestrian collision. The November 23 incident occurred at Northern Avenue and Glen Rd.

MCSO public information specialist Anita Mortensen said the first driver that struck the pedestrian fled the scene, but that a second driver that hit the victim called the agency at about 7:12 p.m. Robert Tighe, 42, died of his injuries following transport to Kingman Regional Medical Center.

Investigation led to the location of the suspect vehicle, a silver SUV, at a home in the 3900 block of Heather Avenue. Mortensen said the SUV had front end damage and that Gilbert Selina, 43, Kingman was contacted at the home.

Mortensen said Selina admitted striking Tighe with the SUV and fleeing, though he claimed another vehicle struck the victim first. She said Selina was jailed for leaving the scene of an accident involving death or injury and that other charges are possible in an ongoing investigation.
