Dear Editor,
Ms. JM, again and again you fail to apply the word “illegal” in front of the word “immigrants”. Two different meanings. You seem to have an affection for these people above legal immigrants.
I assume then you would not mind taking in a family or two and providing food, clothing, and healthcare as well as education for their children or would you complain like your wealthy liberal friends in Martha’s Vineyard when a busload of illegal immigrants from Texas were dropped off there?
They were quickly sent to a military base for relocation. Not in our backyard. What hypocrites! Thanks to former President Biden millions of illegal immigrants have entered our country not processed with background checks, health inspections, or promise of a job waiting for them.
These people are from all over the world not just from south of our border. American birth rates have declined but not in the illegal immigrant population leading to a massive drain of taxpayer’s money. You degrade the brave Men and Women of ICE for risking their lives expelling illegal immigrants as they wave their country’s flags and cause damage to our communities.
Breaking our country’s immigration laws is not a good show of character and respect for our country!
My Grandparents from my Fathers side of our family immigrated from Spain in the early 1900’s. My Grandfather worked and saved to buy passage to the United States. He processed into America at Ellis Island in New York. As required for entry he had a background check, health inspection, and a job waiting for him on a ranch in southern California thanks to a relative who came before him.
My Grandfather sent money back to Spain to pay for my Grandmother’s passage as he had arranged employment for her on the ranch where he worked. They could have asked for asylum as General Francisco Franco, a real Fascist Dictator, ruled Spain with an iron fist and had a grudge against the Basque people in the Pyrenees mountains of Spain. My Grandparents didn’t ask for or expected anything for free. They learned English, became citizens, and were thankful for living in America!
