One-year prison sentence for Kingman woman in drug related theft

Interior of courtroom

KINGMAN — A local judge has approved a plea agreement and imposed stipulated punishment for a Kingman woman plagued by drug dependency. Defense attorney Christopher Donis said Aysa Walls, 33, should benefit from incarceration.

“This is a person who needs to get off drugs or she will die,” Donis told Judge Doug Camacho on Monday, August 4. He said drug addiction caused her to fail probation before, resulting in prison time.

Deputy Mohave County attorney Jake Chavez said Walls made an unauthorized withdrawal of $2,260 from the victim’s bank account on April 17. She pleaded guilty to attempted theft.

Judge Camacho imposed the one-year prison sentence mandated in the plea deal.
