Kingman man charged a second time for child pornography offenses

KINGMAN — A Kingman man already on probation in one child pornography case now faces prosecution in another. The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) reports the May 13 arrest of Steven Walters, 27.

Court records reveal Walters was first charged with ten counts of sexual exploitation of a minor in 2019 for possessing sexually abusive materials involving minors. A plea agreement saw him placed on supervised probation in September, 2020.

MCSO public information officer Anita Mortensen said detectives assisted the Probation Department after Walters was observed possessing and using a cell phone, both prohibited under terms of HIS plea agreement. She said sexual abuse material was discovered when the contents of Walters’ cell phone were reviewed.

A more detailed search was conducted once a warrant was obtained.

“Over five hundred child sexual abuse video files and over six hundred photographs of child sexual abuse material were located,” Morten said. Walters was booked into the Adult Detention Facility for ten new counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
