City of Kingman Wins First at MCC’s Film Festival for AI-Enhanced Historical Doc

KINGMAN – The City of Kingman’s Office of Tourism, in collaboration with the Communications and Marketing Department, secured a first-place victory in the Documentary category at Mohave Community College’s (MCC) 5th Annual Flash Film Festival. Their innovative submission, Kingman: Past, Present and Future, utilized cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) technology to bring the city’s historical photographs to life offering viewers a vivid and engaging journey through Kingman’s storied past.

The film’s AI component was made possible thanks to the efforts of Adam Geller, Administrative Coordinator with Kingman’s Office of Tourism, who discovered and implemented the AI platform KlingAI. Geller carefully selected and digitized photos from Kingman’s historical archives, using KlingAI to animate the images and transform them into dynamic, lifelike visuals. This creative approach gave new depth to the city’s legacy and demonstrated a unique way to preserve and share local history.

The Flash Film Festival, hosted by MCC’s Bullhead City Arts Club and Student Activities Council, celebrates the cinematic talents of students, faculty, staff, and community members across multiple categories, including Comedy, Horror, Drama, Documentary, and Action.

Kingman’s documentary stood out for its visionary storytelling and technological innovation, drawing praise for its emotional impact and historical significance. The project serves as a compelling example of how modern tools like AI can be used to honor and elevate community heritage.
