Havasu takes critical step with second bridge project

construction

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Lake Havasu City takes a critical step towards improving infrastructure and safety for its residents and visitors with the award of the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) preconstruction services contract to Ames Construction for the second bridge and roadway construction project.

The CMAR process is a project delivery method where a construction firm is hired to help with the project design phase and is responsible for constructing the project within a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP).

Funded through a $35.5 million legislative appropriation championed by State Representative Leo Biasiucci and former State Senator Sonny Borrelli, the project aims to enhance safety and provide an additional emergency evacuation route by constructing a second bridge connecting the Island to the mainland.

The new bridge project connects McCulloch Boulevard on the island side to London Bridge Road on the mainland. As part of the construction phase, street improvements are made to South Palo Verde Boulevard and London Bridge Road, as well as the relocation of existing utility lines that run beneath the Bridgewater Channel.
