Dolan man charged with Las Vegas homicide

DOLAN SPRINGS – Personnel with the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) arrested a Las Vegas homicide suspect in Dolan Springs. Agency spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) on January 20 requested the apprehension of the subject believed to be hiding at a home in the 13000 block of Joshua Drive.

“Detectives responded to the residence and attempted to make contact with the suspect, who refused to exit the property,” said MCSO public information officer Anita Mortensen. “SWAT cleared the property and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.”

The suspect subsequently identified as Steven Flores, 23, was booked into the Adult Detention Facility in Kingman and awaits extradition to face prosecution in Nevada.

A news release issued by the LVMPD said Flores allegedly killed a woman in the 2100 block of Naco Court. Her body was discovered February 16.

“Officers located a female inside of a bedroom suffering from an apparent gunshot wound,” the news release said. “Medical personnel were requested and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.”

The LVMPD said detectives learned there had been a party at the residence the day before the victim was located. A court record identified the victim as Marisela Rodriguez, 26.

Investigation continues.
