LAKE HAVASU CITY – Women with Willpower welcomed the holiday season with their 15th annual ‘O’ Christmas Tree celebration. This year, the nonprofit dedicated to women in need, changed up the event name to A Season to Sparkle.

The dinner party fundraiser took place on Sunday, December 1 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the London Bridge Resort’s Convention Center. Since 2009, Women with Willpower has been helping women in the time of hopeless financial situations.

In return, the nonprofit requests their recipients to pay it forward by offering their time by being of service to the community through acts of kindness. The beautiful festive occasion kicked off with the nonprofit’s president Sherri Ashford welcoming attendees on stage.

Ashford acknowledged the dedication of past Women with Willpower presidents such as Havasis’s Connie Alexander, Treasurer of Women with Willpower Vicki Meeh, and Rhonda Miller. Mayor Cal Sheehy was amongst the guest speakers and the nonprofit received check presentations from other community organizations like Lady Vipers, the local food bank, Faith and Grace, and Women with Willpower partner, CASA Council.

The annual celebration included recipients of the nonprofit’s support speaking about the organization like Melinda Wilhelm who spoke about the scholarship she received from another Women with Willpower’s partners, Women’s Network Exchange of Arizona (WNEA).

Wilhelm, a soon to be college graduate of the nursing program at Mohave Community College, talked about the nonprofit’s support of the medical expenses for her child as well as making sure her electricity stayed on.  The holiday party also included a buffet style dinner, cash bar, auctions, and a drawing where guests could guess the number of tree ornaments of the various Christmas trees on display.
