Kingman Streetscape Project honored at ACEC Engineering Excellence Awards

KINGMAN – The City of Kingman’s Beale Street Streetscape Revitalization Project was recently recognized with an Engineering Excellence Award by the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Arizona during the 2024 Engineering Excellence Awards Breakfast in Phoenix.  Engineering company, WSP, earned the Honor Award for this project.

The Streetscape Project involved a comprehensive overhaul of downtown infrastructure with visual and landscaping enhancements, including street trees, benches, trash receptacles, wayfinding, and street lighting.  Much of the brickwork was reused historic material which reduced waste and reinforced Kingman’s historical identity, seamlessly blending the city’s past with its present.

These enhancements establish a safe, attractive, and welcoming downtown atmosphere, connecting pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists to key destinations along Beale Street from First to Sixth Street.  With over three decades of planning and research dating back to 1998, the Streetscape Project was made possible through crucial grant funding, catalyzing a long-awaited vision for downtown Kingman. Since the project’s completion in June, local businesses have reported sales increases—some as high as 60%—demonstrating both economic growth and community pride.
