Fatal traffic crash under investigation

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Investigators believe a local resident suffered an unknown medical event before crashing the vehicle he was operating in Lake Havasu City on Oct. 30. Police responded at 1:00 p.m. to the incident in the intersection of McCulloch Boulevard North and Daytona Avenue.

“Officers discovered that the driver, the sole occupant of a 2015 Nissan Versa, was traveling eastbound on McCulloch Boulevard North when the vehicle veered off the roadway, struck a mailbox, and subsequently collided with a wall,” said police sergeant Kyle Ridgway. He said the driver, Jeffery Woods, 67, was unconscious on scene.

“Officers and Lake Havasu City Fire personnel immediately began lifesaving measures,” Ridgway said. “Ultimately, the driver was transported to the Havasu Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.”

No other vehicles were involved and no one else was injured. Investigation continues.
