KINGMAN – The Arizona Association of Chiefs of Police (AACOP) and the Arizona Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ALEAP) have created a pathway for emergency communications centers in the state to showcase their adherence to widely accepted best practices and industry standards. This accreditation signifies that a center has been rigorously evaluated against established criteria and has met or surpassed the accepted norms for emergency communications services.
The personnel at Arizona’s emergency communications centers exemplify compliance with these standards through their attitudes, training, and actions. Effective leadership, rooted in professional policy development, is significantly enhanced by an accreditation program that is comprehensive, achievable, and aligned with community expectations.
On September 4, Captain Larry Jones from the Page Police Department conducted an on-site assessment of the Kingman 911 Communications Center. During this visit, he had full access to the agency’s policies, procedures, training programs, facilities, and staff.
On September 11, at the AACOP annual conference, the Kingman 911 Communications Center received Emergency Communications Center Accreditation from ALEAP, valid for four years without restrictions.
This ALEAP accreditation confirms that the Kingman 911 Communications Center meets or exceeds national best practices and industry standards for delivering high-quality emergency communication services. This achievement reflects the professionalism and dedication of the entire Kingman 911 Communications Center team.
“We are always looking in order to better ourselves “, said Kingman Fire Chief Jack Yeager when presenting the award at the City Council Meeting on October 15, 2024. Chief Yeager added. “We are extremely proud that our Center is dual accredited, which is exciting”.
Police Chief Rusty Cooper added his congratulations during the same Council meeting, “When I am at conferences and meetings, I brag on what our Dispatch Communications Center is doing and doing well”. Chief Cooper turned to Kingman 911 Center staff in the audience and added, “We (KPD) are one of your biggest customers and I want you to know that I appreciate your team because you’re working short staffed as well and in the same process of that, they were able to accomplish this dual accreditation, which is pretty amazing”.
