Former Hines and Lakeview Oregon resident Benjamin (Ben) F. Lohf, 88, passed away Sep 21, 2024 at the Kingman Regional Medical Center (KRMC) Hospice facility in Kingman, AZ after a brief illness. At his request, no services will be held.
Mr. Lohf was a talented artist, lover of native American lore and an accomplished lapidarist. He was also a gifted wood and leather craftsman. During his life he spent time as a sheepherder, logger, car salesman, and mechanic. An avid outdoorsman, he was a firearms expert and gunsmith. A philanthropist, Mr. Lohf often assisted others in need.
Mr. Lohf served in the Oregon National Guard and as a Corporal was awarded the Dead-Eye Award. In 1987 he received a Certificate of Merit from the US Department of Agriculture for maintaining and improving Oregon road signage.
Born Jul 18,1936 in Burns Oregon, he was the son of Henry Floyd Lohf and Margaret Mix Lohf, residents of Hines, OR. Mr. Lohf graduated from Burns Union High School in Burns, Oregon where he played on the basketball team. After moving to Lakeview, Oregon he married Lillian Bernice O’Callaghan who preceded him in death.
He is survived by two sons, Wayne and Terry Lohf and two stepdaughters, Cynthia Tieck and Patricia Haugen.
