Mother stabbed to death in Bullhead City

Travers Proulx

BULLHEAD CITY – A Bullhead City man stabbed his mother to death early Sunday, according to authorities. Bullhead City Police Department spokeswoman Emily Fromelt said officers responded at 4:15 a.m. to a residence in the 1100 block of Jasper Avenue.

“It was reported that Travers Proulx got into an argument with his mother and started stabbing her with a knife,” Fromelt said.  “Proulx’s brother woke up to the sound of his mother screaming and tried to get Travers out of the house.”

Fromelt said Proulx, 43, fled on foot after threatening to kill his brother and step-father. Responding pararmedics reportedly pronounced 74-year-old Bette Vaughn dead at the scene.

Officers located the suspected murder weapon in the yard of a neighboring home on Jasper Avenue. A tip led police to a home in the 1100 block of Gemstone Avenue where Proulx was taken into custody without incident.

Proulx was booked into the Adult Detention Center in Kingman on a first degree murder charge.
