Falls gets five years in child porn case

BULLHEAD CITY – A Bullhead City man will spend five years in prison for downloading and possessing child pornography. The punishment was imposed during a Friday, Feb. 16 sentencing hearing for Ian Falls, 38.

Mohave County Superior Court Judge Derek Carlisle also ordered that Falls will serve 20 years of probation following prison and must register as a sex offender for life.

Homeland Security notified Bullhead City police about child pornography transmission activity at Falls’ residence in the 600 block of Palo Verde Dr. Falls was arrested following SWAT team assisted execution of a search warrant at the home on May 31, 2023.

Falls pleaded guilty to two counts reduced to attempted sexual exploitation of a minor while four other sexual conduct with a minor counts are dismissed.

“I apologize for what happened,” Falls said at sentencing. “It’ll never happen again.”

His lawyer told the court that Falls earned the Purple Heart and other medals of honor for his U.S. combat service in Afghanistan and Iraq. He said Falls was honorably discharged and permanently disabled by an IED blast that resulted in depression and poor decision making and the child porn involvement.
