Rotary hosts speaker, makes donation

Speaking at Kingman Route 66 Rotary Club’s January 26 meeting was Velizar Iliev, a U.S. Olympian and World Champion. Born in Bulgaria, Iliev won multiple national titles there before moving to the USA and becoming an American citizen. Iliev was a three-time World Champion while in Bulgaria and won the 1999 Pan American Games. He became a volunteer fencing coach at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas,where he coached the Olympian Fencing Club. Ilev and his wife moved to Kingman recently and he will be opening Mohave Fencing Academy to be held at College Park Community Church for ages 5 years through adults. Also at its January 26 meeting, Kingman Route 66 Rotary Club presented a $2,500 donation to Beale Street Theater. Accepting the donation was the theater’s executive director, Kristina Michelson (shown with Rotary club president, Ken Cunningham).
