Body recovered in Lake Havasu, investigation underway

The body of a man who had been operating a remote controlled boat was recovered from Lake Havasu early Saturday. Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies responded at 6:45 a.m. to the area of Thompson Bay where various personal belongings were found along the shoreline and a remote controlled boat was spotted in the water near the buoy line.

Agency spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said it was determined that Edward Young, 59, Lake Havasu City, had been operating a boat in that area. She said Young’s body was located and recovered from ten feet of water about 75 feet from the shoreline.

Mortensen said early indication was that Young may have crashed his boat and attempted to swim to retrieve it. The investigation continues.
