Picard turns himself in for armed robbery

A strong armed robbery suspect turned himself in after his picture was distributed by the Bullhead City police department. Area media and social media displayed an image of the suspect captured by surveillance system video during the March 31 incident in the Smith’s Food and Drug parking lot in the 1700 block of Lakeside Drive.

Police spokeswoman Emily Fromelt said tips from citizens helped investigators identify the suspect as Steven Alexander Picard, 29. Fromelt said Picard accosted a man in the grocery store parking lot, pulling his wallet from his pants and fleeing on foot.

Fromelt said there was a brief struggle but that the robbery victim was not injured. She said Picard worked with his attorney to arrange for the return of the wallet and its contents last Friday.

Picard subsequently surrendered to police on Monday. Fromelt said he was booked on robbery charges and taken to the Mohave County Jail in Kingman.
