Kingman City Council work session to focus on generating new revenue streams

Projects and funding sources are part of the focus of next week’s Kingman City Council work session. City manager Ron Foggin said staff will once again detail Kingman’s five-year capital improvement project list.

Cost of the projects grossly exceeds Kingman’s current funding capacity. Foggin said he believes the City should reduce and redraft its project list and make it more realistic if it does not identify new revenue streams.

A mix of fee and tax options to generate additional revenue will also be presented.

“We’re going to talk to the Council about what’s their appetite for moving forward to address revenue shortfalls, or is there any appetite for it at all,” Foggin said. “We’re just clearly falling short in these areas of expenditures.”

Investment development fees, storm water fees and sales and property tax mechanisms are up for discussion. Implementation of a primary property tax or a sales tax increase require voter approval.

Tuesday’s workshop at City Hall starts at 4:00 p.m.
