Controlled burn scheduled in Bullhead City

BULLHEAD CITY – On Wednesday, October 11, the Bullhead City Fire Department will conduct a controlled burn in Heritage Trail Park between Highway 95 and the Colorado River in Northern Bullhead City, AZ. Residents can expect to see large plumes of smoke rising from the area during the burn, which is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. and wrap up near the noon hour. However, crews will be assigned to stay and monitor the burn area into the evening’s hour. We ask the community to refrain from calling 911 if they see smoke in this area between the noted time frames.

Controlled burns are carefully planned and must meet strict criteria, including weather parameters, smoke management, and fire safety guidelines. BCFD Captain K. Gifford will be incident command of the assignment, which will include ten BCFD firefighters operating a type three engine, a type six engine, and a water tender.

In addition, controlled burns are a valuable tool firefighters can use to prevent and manage wildland fires. By reducing the amount of fuel available for potential fires, controlled burns can help protect communities and property from the danger this type of fire presents.
