Community clinic plans underway

KINGMAN – Kingman Adventist Community Services (ACS) Foodbank leaders are spearheading an effort to conduct a healthcare and happiness clinic for community members in need. They hope to secure sufficient resources to provide some basic health and dental care services for underprivileged and insurance challenged individuals on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1.

The drive in advance of the event aims to align health care professionals and other volunteers and community donations to help less fortunate community members. ACS Director Boowie Tefft said five dentists and four medical doctors were among 52 people who registered as volunteers by May 25.

“We’re looking for about 30% medical professionals and a mix of skills from the rest of the volunteer corps who will perform support roles,” Tefft said. She advised anyone wanting to help can register as a volunteer at www.acsfoodbank.org.

Others who want to help but can’t volunteer can make donations to support the campaign. Tefft said such contributions can pay for dentures and eyeglasses that are popular for such clinics because so many people don’t have dental or vision care.

Anyone wanting further information regarding clinic services or involvement as volunteers or by donation can contact Tefft at 928-530-1856.
