House damaged by a fire

KINGMAN – Fire heavily damaged a Kingman home Tuesday. Assistant Fire Chief Keith Eaton said personnel responded just before noon to a report of heavy smoke in the 3300 block of Fairfax Street.

“Crews found one occupant being helped from the structure by neighbors. She was unharmed and refused treatment,” Eaton said. He said five neighbors were evaluated for smoke inhalation but all declined further treatment.

Eaton said firefighters attacked the fire at the rear of the residence. Knockdown and control were quickly achieved.

“Smoke, fire and water damage was noted throughout 60% of the structure,” Eaton said. He said the occupant displaced by fire is being assisted by the American Red Cross.

No firefighters were hurt. Cause of the fire is under investigation.
