72-year-old shot on Christmas Eve

KINGMAN – Kingman police have provided more details about a Christmas Eve shooting. Deputy Police Chief Joel Freed said police responding at 8:00 p.m. to a report of a male pointing a firearm at others located a 72-year-old Kingman man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Freed said the victim whose name is withheld had gone to the residence in the 2600 block of Crozier Avenue to confront an individual. He said the victim was shot in the doorway of a residence but was able to struggle to his vehicle.

Freed said a younger man in the home who was identified as the shooter claimed self-defense. He said the man fired five rounds, with three of them striking the victim in the chest.

The wounded man was flown to Sunrise Medical Center in Las Vegas in serious condition, but is expected to survive.

No one else was injured or arrested. Investigation continues.
