Federal and state officials seek assistance in investigation of Mexican wolf death near Flagstaff

PHOENIX — A federally protected Mexican wolf was found dead northwest of Flagstaff, Ariz., on Nov. 7. Female Mexican wolf 2979 (F2979) was found dead in the vicinity of Forest Service Road 2058 and East Spring Valley Road. The incident is under investigation, and a reward of up to $103,500 is available for information that leads to successful prosecution in the case. No additional details about the cause of death are being shared at this time, except that the mortality was not related to agency management actions.

Mexican wolf F2979 was first documented outside the Mexican Wolf Experimental Population Area (MWEPA) north of Interstate 40 near Flagstaff in early summer 2024.

Art Guild hosts Holiday Shoppe

LAKE HAVASU CITY – The Havasu Art Guild will be spreading their artistic holiday cheer once more this weekend at their annual Holiday Shoppe event.  Formed in 1978, the art guild’s mission is to encourage the community and individuals to develop an interest in the creative arts and crafts.  

The nonprofit continuously supports the endeavors of local artists by showcasing their work at community events. The organization maintains that you don’t have to be an artist to join the club, as they welcome everyone wanting to explore their creative side.

Marshalls officially opens its doors

KINGMAN – The City of Kingman has announced the grand opening of Marshalls, the city’s newest retail destination, located at 3127 Stockton Hill Road.  Last week’s ribbon-cutting ceremony welcomed a crowd of eager customers and community leaders, celebrating the addition of this renowned retailer to Kingman’s growing economy.  Marshalls Kingman Store Manager Diane Serret and Vice Mayor Sammeli spoke at the event, emphasizing the store’s significance to the community. “This is a milestone for Kingman,” said Vice Mayor Sammeli. “We’re thrilled to welcome Marshalls and look forward to the positive impact it will have on our residents and local economy.”
