KINGMAN — A co-defendant charged as an accomplice in a Yucca homicide pleaded guilty to lesser charges Tuesday and was sentenced to prison. Bryan Gibson, 54, appeared before Judge Doug Camacho at the Mohave County Law and Justice Center in Kingman.
Gibson was already jailed in an unrelated drug case on August 7, 2023 when he was charged with murder and abandonment of the body of Jack Parlanti. The remains of the 50 year-old Kingman man were found wrapped in a tarp and deposited in a large junk pile full of debris in a remote area of Yucca in December, 2022.
Principal suspect Shannon Powell, 31, Yucca, was charged with Parlanti’s murder and body abandonment on August 2, 2023. Gibson was charged five days later.
Authorities said that Powell was living in a separate trailer on Gibson’s property when Parlanti arrived from Kingman and an argument ensued over a methamphetamine deal.
A previous hearing indicated that Powell initially declined when directed by Gibson to kill Parlanti. Powell reportedly shot Parlanti several times subsequently, and fired again to end his suffering.
Powell entered a plea agreement and is serving a 22-year prison term.
Deputy county attorney Phillip Delgado said Gibson provided wiring and the material that Powell used to secure the victim’s body. Gibson pleaded guilty to abandonment of a dead body, and possession of methamphetamine in the unrelated drug case.
Terms of the plea deal mandated the ten-year prison sentence imposed Tuesday by Judge Camacho. Gibson was credited for the 670 days already spent in custody.
