KINGMAN – Several events took place over the weekend in Kingman, including a pickleball tournament, the first of the season Market in the Park, and the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association stop here in Kingman.
The 40th edition of the event is run by The Kingsmen. Tim Curry is the President of the Kingsmen Pro Rodeo Association. He describes his group.
“The Kingsmen is an organization full of local business people, some retired, some working. We put on rodeos every year. We put on two a year. That’s what The Kingsmen do. We also have scholarships and different things we get involved in the community, too.”
A rodeo wouldn’t be a rodeo without a queen. This year, it’s Alyssa Tugor.
“Being a part of rodeo has always meant so much for me. Even though I didn’t grow up in a rodeo family, I started barrel racing when I was 10 years old and fell in love with the sport of barrel racing and wanted to try out rodeo ‘queening’ and see how it goes. And has been amazing.”
Kingman Pickleball Tournament
Pickleball is one of the fastest growing recreational sports across the nation and it’s no different in Kingman. The local Pickleball Club ran a two day tournament with the Romer Beverage Company sponsoring play for brackets of women, men, and mixed doubles at Centennial Park. Theresa Atuna was the tournament director.
“We’re raising money for the animal shelter. We have everybody bringing a bag of dog food or cat food. This is the Kingman Pickleball Club. We have people from Bullhead City, Lake Havasu City and Laughlin, Nevada, also coming down to play with us today.”

Market in the Park season opens
The Market in the Park has opened for the season. There were numerous vendors, mostly homecraft items, and a number of food trucks to serve those attending this season opening Market. Steven Brill is the Market manager.
“We are here every Saturday morning from April, all the way through summer, until the end of October. We usually hold about 30 to 40 vendors weekly. We have a lot of things and we have amazing food vendors.”

Another busy Kingman spring weekend. Among the activities Kingmanites could choose from were the Kingman Pickleball Clubs tournament in Centennial Park, a visit to the first of the season Market in the Park, and the Professional Rodeo Cowboys’ Association two day rodeo at the fairgrounds.
