BULLHEAD CITY – Last Wednesday afternoon starting at 4:30 p.m. Bullhead City Police Department (BHCPD) hosted their 17th Annual Walk Away From Drugs event in Ken Fovargue Park. The event was once again a big hit drawing in hundreds of visitors to the annual event that aims to steer kids away from drug use at an early age through displays and participatory events that educate them on the dangers inherent in drug usage.
The park was packed with BHCPD, fire trucks and emergency vehicles that kids were allowed to view up close, as well as tables and booths of interest and some offering refreshments to the event visitors.
DJ Loki was on hand pumping out the soundtrack for the day’s festivities which included a 5k around a loop starting at the park on Trane Ave., and heading south to Marina Blvd., down to Lakeside, back to Hancock Blvd., and ending up back at Fovargue Park on Trane Ave. and a 1.5 mile walk as well.
There were several booths set up for the event including Ones by Bullhead City Police Department, Bullhead City Fire, Not My KId, Rivyve Behavioral Health, Southwest Behavioral Health, Mohave County Health Services, and Arizona Fish and Game.
The MALC Patriot Cheerleaders squad put on a performance to start the event off and they also displayed their entries for the Best Poster contest hosted by the city.
