Alleged hit-and-run driver apprehended

BULLHEAD CITY – On Tuesday, November 12 at about 8 p.m., a van driven by 74-year-old Alton Ervin, reportedly caused a motor vehicle accident on Highway 95 and Central Avenue. The two occupants in the other vehicle got out of their car and told police they attempted to stop the driver of the van from leaving the scene.

The van then reportedly accelerated away from the crash scene and struck the female passenger from the other vehicle, dragging her hundreds of feet. She was flown to University Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nev., with serious injuries.

Officers canvassed the area looking for the suspect’s vehicle and located the van in the 1500 block of Jose Avenue. Alton Ervin was contacted at the residence and was identified as the hit-and-run driver. Ervin was arrested for aggravated assault, felony endangerment and leaving the scene of a serious injury crash.
