Upcoming events to help support local businesses

KINGMAN – August is proving to be a busy month for members of our Kingman community, and September is shaping up to be busy as well. Many of our local businesses are holding events to reach out to the community and bring people together!

Mr. D’z Route 66 Diner is holding a Car Enthusiasts Breakfast every Saturday from 7 am to 9 am which will be fun for the whole family! The next breakfasts will be on August 28th and September 4th. All years, makes, and models are welcome. Come hungry to Mr. D’z Route 66 Diner located at 105 E Andy Devine Avenue. For more information, please call (928) 718-0066.

Also coming up on August 28th and September 4th is Thunder Rode’s Farmers Market. Head over to Thunder Rode at 102 Beale Street from 8 am to 12pm to get some fresh produce! For more information, please call Sheri Shaw at (623) 249-1157.

If music is more your style, then head over to the Cellar Door (located at 414 Beale Street) in the last days of August to watch some unique and talented musicians.

On August 25th, a violin/guitar pair named Stringtown Duo will be playing Irish, Klezmer, Bluegrass, and Pop/Rock music. They will be playing live from 7 pm to 10 pm. Children are welcome!

On August 26th, Jonathan Foster will be performing live from 8 pm to 10 pm. On tour, the Americana roots songwriter will display a solo-acoustic performance.

And on August 27th, Scott and Sabrina, a modern country/rock duo will be performing live from 7 pm to 10 pm. Originally from Southern Oregon, the couple now live in Lake Havasu City. From their fresh originals to unique covers of classics, these singer/songwriters are recording artists that are bound to play something you’ll enjoy! Black Bridge Brewery will be hosting an Open Mic Night on August 28th and they invite all musicians, comedians, and poets to come join! Sign up is at 5:30 pm the day of. Comedy and poetry will be allotted 7-minute time slots, and songs will be allotted 2-minute slots. You can jam with other musicians onstage already, do a solo act, or call up other musicians. This event will be very relaxed and fun-filled, so leave the nerves at home and come enjoy! The event will run from 6 pm to 10 pm at 421 E Beale Street, Suite #5833. And finally, there will be a Meet the Author and Book Signing event on August 30th! Ron Clements will be discussing and signing his new book, A Sports Fan’s Guide to Route 66, at the Kingman Visitor Center from 10 am to 2 pm. His book is the first entirely sports-related book about Route 66, so if you would like to meet the man behind the project and get a copy for yourself, head over to 120 W Andy Devine Avenue!
