“The truth just muddies that beautiful desert mirage.” That is an R.K. Shinkosky quote I recently saw. But no sooner did did I see it than the “Trump mirage” began fading, and fast.
What some saw as conservatism is now seen as corruption. A coup takeover of our government that Trump and Musk call D.O.G.E. and “the Big Beautiful Tariff.” When there is a sudden and decisive change of government illegally or by force, it is a blatantly obvious coup. So let’s call it for what it is.
Americans are up in arms. In all party affiliations across the country, red states and and blue states, people are protesting. Even in Kingman. Kudos to them and all those who have taken to the streets and town halls letting their voices be heard. They know these drastic changes won’t hurt Trump and Musk and billionaires like it will millions of Americans.
Economists and political scientists and historians are saying it’s the dumbest trade war in history. Neither D.O.G.E. or a tariff war is good for our country. But as we continue to lose more of our rights and freedom and our economic stability, Republicans tell their constituents to “just get over it” and to “calm down,” and to “trust in Trump.” But it’s not working.
The people can see Trump and Musk are pushing our government right over a cliff. They see that there never was a plan for the rest of groceries to go down day one or anything for that matter as Trump had promised.
He played the bait-and-switch game with his voters and here we are, all of us, left holding the bag. But Cory Booker said, “We can’t do everything, but we can do something.” And that’s just what thousands are doing.
They are protesting and letting their voices be heard with signs that read: Hands Off our bodies, jobs, healthcare, education, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and V.A. benefits and so much more we are losing.
Americans are not going to “just get over it” and go quietly into the night. Not without a fight and being heard.
