Traffic stop nets 1.5 pounds of meth

FT. MOHAVE – A speed-related traffic stop resulted in a significant drug seizure in Fort Mohave. Bullhead City Police Public Information Officer Emily Fromelt said that John Baxter, 57, Bullhead City, did not have a valid driver’s license when the vehicle he was operating was pulled over at Highway 95 and Lipan Dr. at about 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 20.

Fromelt said a Mohave County Sheriff’s K-9 alerted to the presence of illegal drugs in the vehicle.

“Deputies located drug paraphernalia and two baggies containing a large quantity of methamphetamine in the vehicle,” Fromelt said. ?“Baxter also had some methamphetamine in his pants pocket.”

Bullhead City Police MAGNET detectives were summoned to the scene to help assist in the narcotics investigation. 

“Approximately 1.5 pounds of methamphetamine was seized from the vehicle,” Fromelt said. ?“MAGNET served a narcotic search warrant into Baxter’s residence in the 1300 block of Lincoln Lane where more drug paraphernalia and approximately 1 ounce of methamphetamine was located.”

Baxter was booked into the Mohave County Jail in Kingman for transportation of dangerous drugs for sale.
