Taste of Bullhead a stunning success

BULLHEAD CITY – The culinary students of Mohave Community College scored a second straight
“Best of Show” at the Taste of Bullhead. It was the 14th event and was staged at the Bullhead Area Chamber of Commerce Building in Bullhead City.
Bo Hellams is the Bullhead Area Chamber of Commerce President/CEO and he explains the purpose of the “Taste of Bullhead” event.
“It’s a fantastic night for us to bring our members together and network in a compassionate way where we link our business professionals with business professionals focused in restaurant and catering services”
Hellams went on to pay tribute to the volunteers and Chamber staff members who put on this very classy event.
“When you see leadership skills rise in your own sector, when you see people work together, and they’re all trying to achieve one goal, it does make the overall mission beautiful, right! We come together and we really aim to pull something off, and, without a doubt, all of these people coming together and working as hard as they can to put this show on for over 250 guests is quite amazing.”
Speaking about amazing, Alana Johnson, the Mohave Community College culinary instructor, related the amazing effort her students put together to compete in this annual occasion.
“In the week leading up to this event, the students, whose normal class periods are about four hours long every day, transforms into about eight to 12 hours a day, they have to put in. They have to conceptualize it from the start. We always participate in everything. We just try to embody that in everything that we do and really try to be great partners in this event.”
Johnson, who is also MCC’s Food Service Director, helped her students to a second straight “Best in Show” title. The Bullhead Belle was recognized with serving up the “Best Entrée”. Capturing the nod for the “Best Desert” was the group from VooDoo Cove. The award for “Most Spirited” was a culinary student group from Desert Star Academy. Honorable mention was accorded to “Honey Paws BBQ.
A sold-out crowd of 250 attended the 14th annual Taste of Bullhead. A video story of the event may be seen clicking the YouTube icon at www.thestandardnewspaper.online.
